A modular unit

Each NoiseTrap® Blox is a modular unit that can be assembled together to form flexible sized ventilation sections. The lightweight design is easily installed by one person and is suitable for use on rooftops (chiller units for example), where weight is a crucial factor and access can be difficult.

High attenuation of low frequencies with NoiseTrap Blox

This solution has been specially developed for the attenuation of low-frequency noise and can be used for a wide range of applications. The elements are suitable for situations where large volumes of air need to flow through an opening and where installation space is limited – such as enclosures, industrial facades and cooling and heating installations. NoiseTrap Blox has a limited installation depth of just 30 cm. The elements can be installed both horizontally and vertically and are easy to mount thanks to the user-friendly click system.

The traditional method for dealing with low-frequency noise is to use thick walls, large silencers and thick grills. In those solutions, it is the material used that determines the degree of insulation: mass and thick absorption elements provide the necessary attenuation, where the sound is converted into thermal energy. NoiseTrap Blox, however, is different – it uses a patented technology based on acoustic metamaterials, and the shape determines the level of sound absorption. The openings and volumes of the chambers are adapted to attenuate low tones that reach the chambers via the ventilation opening.
NoiseTrap Blox can attenuate a wide range of frequencies. The elements are equipped as standard with acoustic foam for extra attenuation, especially for higher frequencies. For use in clinical settings, for example, a model without absorption foam is available.
NoiseTrap Blox can be used in both existing situations and in new buildings, for example as an acoustic screen for a transformer or HVAC installation. It can also be used as an acoustic grill in an enclosure, a facade or a low-noise outdoor space (loggia). NoiseTrap Blox is a space-saving alternative for an absorptive silencer or resonator. Unlike conventional grill systems, there is no limit to the number of NoiseTrap Blox elements that can be combined. Using the built-in click system and installation frame, the elements can be interconnected to form a complete assembly. Thanks to the frame design, the elements can also be combined to create entire walls or facades.
Besides being able to combine ventilation and high attenuation in the low frequencies, NoiseTrap Blox is also characterised by its modular character and light weight. This makes it easier to assemble and transport on site. Thanks to the small size and lightness of the elements, they can be easily transported to roof installations with a lift. The housing and the interior of NoiseTrap Blox are made of polypropylene – a non-reflective, non-toxic plastic. The material is 100% recyclable, colour-fast and UV resistant.
