Infrastructure

Merford contributes to the safety of road and rail traffic – both above and below ground – with its doors and sound solutions.

There is no way around it: the population is growing. Each year there are more people who require additional facilities. This has a major impact on infrastructure. Our road network continues to expand, airports are increasing in size and there are more train and metro connections. The objective is for us to enjoy these facilities and of course to experience the minimum possible inconvenience from them. Merford offers infrastructure-related solutions designed to guarantee safety and an acceptable level of sound.

Boundaries between traffic and our living environment are blurring – Merford is responding to that trend

Thanks to the network of motorways and train connections, we can travel throughout the country in no time at all. This is, of course, very convenient – it also has a downside. Residential areas are cropping up right next to busy motorways and train stations are being built in places where people live and work, blurring the boundaries between residential spaces and traffic flows. Merford has a unique range of sound solutions and door systems to meet these challenges.

The solutions

The required space increases, while the earth’s surface remains the same. This is why train connections, roads and parking garages increasingly disappear underground. A good solution, if it were not for the availability of fewer escape routes in case of emergency. To ensure safety, underground emergency escape doors are indispensable. As are fire-resistant, explosion-proof and water-tight doors. However, special access engineering requirements also apply aboveground. Service buildings and technical areas for tunnels, railway stations and airports must be well-ventilated, sound insulated and protected against break-ins. We optimally anticipate these requirements with a single door, with various grill systems, or grill fronts with integrated doors. Merford also offers sound control solutions for the infrastructure sector, such as railway traffic vibration damping solutions designed to prevent damage to nearby buildings. We also use acoustic materials to counteract noise pollution caused by road joints on bridges and viaducts, for example.
