Description

Akoestifloor Icotop is a floating floor system designed to reduce impact and airborne noise on timber and concrete floors. Each prefabricated element features a resilient core of Akoestifoam HDD, combined with two fibre-reinforced gypsum boards and a sound-damping intermediate layer. This construction provides high levels of sound insulation while remaining stable under load. Elements are available in 40 mm and 60 mm thicknesses and in a standard size of 1,300 × 600 mm, making them suitable for a range of residential and refurbishment projects.

Properties

The elements provide high sound insulation within a compact build-up and also contribute to improved thermal insulation. The system supports fire resistance and can be combined with the Akoestiregel MD 60 ceiling system for acoustically decoupled constructions. This helps meet building regulations for sound insulation between dwellings.

Applications

Akoestifloor Icotop is suitable for the renovation and upgrading of existing timber and concrete floors in residential buildings. Prefabricated elements are installed on a flat, dry and stable subfloor using Akoestifix Icotop, an elastic adhesive that secures the elements while maintaining acoustic decoupling. A flexible foam strip is used for edge insulation. Once the adhesive has cured, the floor can be finished with a wide range of floor coverings, including parquet, laminate and tiles.

Answers to common questions

Answers to the most common technical and practical questions.
How do I determine which Akoestikon element is suitable for my project?

Selection depends on factors such as room function, noise source, required level of sound insulation or absorption, and fire safety requirements. Merford specialists can provide advice based on measurements, acoustic calculations and specific project requirements.

Does the substrate require special preparation?

Yes, the substrate must be flat, dry and sufficiently stable for correct installation. Irregularities or unstable surfaces can affect both performance and installation quality.

How are Akoestikon panels installed?

The panels are modular and can be mounted on both walls and ceilings. Installation can be done directly onto the structure or via a frame. Thanks to their lightweight design and modular system, installation is fast and requires no major structural modifications.
