Living alongside a busy motorway requires smart solutions. For the new Canvas Living development in Rotterdam, we designed custom-made façade grilles that let fresh air in while keeping traffic noise out. This creates a healthy and comfortable living environment right in the heart of the city.
Acoustic roof solution for the Boterhalle

Sound requirements in an urban environment
The Boterhalle is part of Diksmuide’s vision for a lively and welcoming space for all ages. From parties and performances to lectures and club events, the hall will become a vibrant hub for the community. But being in the historic core of the town comes with strict requirements. Neighbours are close by, and noise regulations are tight. Without a carefully designed acoustic solution, a multifunctional hall simply would not be possible here.
The question was clear: how do you create an event hall that can be used intensively and is simultaneously acoustically sound?
Collaboration and smart solutions
Making the hall a reality required teamwork and persistence. After two years of close consultation with architects and acoustic consultants, the Akoestikon® system was chosen. The reasons were clear: it delivers the required performance, is easy to install, and flexible to produce and deliver.
For the Boterhalle, we supplied the MXR250 acoustic roof system, its first application in Belgium. Reference projects in the Netherlands, such as at Rotterdam Ahoy, show that similar results are possible.
Production is fully managed in-house, allowing us to respond flexibly to the schedule. Installation is carried out by our partner Sonorix, supported on-site by our specialists for a smooth start-up.

An impressive result
Thanks to the Akoestikon® system, the Boterhalle sounds just as it should, without disturbing the neighbourhood. The hall meets all noise standards and can host a wide range of events. The result is a future-proof venue that is vibrant, flexible, and socially responsible. This project shows that collaboration, technical expertise, and care for the environment can go hand in hand.
