Better customer experience for COBRA's visitors
At Restaurant COBRA in Antwerp, Tuned® Accent panels and acoustic paintings created a comfortable acoustic environment. Reverberation was effectively reduced without compromising the interior design.
This project demonstrates how functional acoustic solutions can provide both comfort and aesthetic value.
Sound absorption and acoustic paintings
Restaurant COBRA is located on Leopoldplaats in Antwerp and opened at the end of April 2023. The interior, designed by Esfan Eghtessadi, features a high red ceiling combined with a mustard-coloured banquette running along the full length of the wall. Two paintings by Benny Van de Meulengracht-Vranckx are integrated into the interior and contribute to the restaurant’s creative atmosphere.
The restaurant quickly became popular, with more than 2,200 reservations shortly after opening. However, the combination of hard surfaces, reflective materials and a high ceiling resulted in long reverberation times, affecting the acoustic experience for guests. A solution was required to improve sound quality without altering the interior concept.
Integrating acoustic solutions into the interior
Merford supplied Tuned® Accent panels and acoustic paintings to reduce reverberation. The panels absorb sound effectively while being visually integrated into the interior, ensuring the design remains intact.
The acoustic paintings, part of the Tuned® Art collection, function not only as decorative elements but also make a significant contribution to the acoustic performance. By combining both solutions, reverberation was reduced in an effective and aesthetically integrated way.
