AIR 50
Weighted sound reduction index up to Rw = 50 dB(A)
Burglary resistance up to RC3
Fire resistance up to 60 minutes
The AIR 50 louvre is a weather-resistant, high-performance sound-absorbing louvre, developed for ventilation and façade applications requiring superior acoustic control. It combines efficient airflow guidance with broadband sound attenuation, making it ideal for installations where both ventilation and maximum noise reduction are critical.
The acoustic elements are internally lined with high-quality sound-absorbing material, while the aerodynamic louvre profile minimises pressure drop and maintains efficient airflow. Depending on configuration and dimensions, the louvre achieves a weighted sound reduction of up to Rw = 50 dB(A).
Manufactured from galvanised or stainless steel with durable coatings for corrosion resistance, the AIR 50 is suitable for demanding outdoor environments. The internal acoustic infill is moisture- and weather-resistant, ensuring consistent performance under varying climatic conditions. The AIR 50 features a net free area of 28 %, ensuring efficient ventilation. Optional accessories such as bird mesh, filters, or protective grilles can be added for specific project requirements.
The louvre is designed to meet RC2 and RC3 burglary resistance standards and is available with 0, 30, or 60 minutes fire resistance, depending on project specifications. All units are manufactured in accordance with ISO 9001 quality standards.
The AIR 50 louvre is suitable for façade openings, ventilation ducts, machine rooms, plant enclosures and air-handling systems requiring high levels of acoustic performance. It can be installed vertically or horizontally, as part of a wall section, or integrated into air intake and exhaust systems. The AIR 50 can be fully customised in terms of dimensions and finishes, making it suitable for both new constructions and renovation projects where high sound attenuation, security, and fire safety are essential.

Answers to common questions
Merford louvers are aerodynamically designed to minimize pressure drop and guide airflow efficiently. This ensures ventilation performance remains high even at increased airflow.
Yes. The frame and blades are made from galvanized or stainless steel with durable coatings, and the internal fill is moisture‑ and weather‑resistant, ensuring consistent performance under varying weather conditions.
AKR louvers are mainly designed for sound attenuation and ventilation. AIR louvers combine acoustic performance with additional safety features, such as fire resistance and burglary resistance (RC class), making them suitable for critical or secured environments.
