Merfodem
Weighted sound reduction index up to Rw = 26 dB
Reduces structure-borne vibrations of sheet surfaces
Ideal for walls, ceilings, floors, and floating floor systems
Merfodem is a high-density acoustic panel designed to reduce airborne noise, impact noise, and vibrations in panel structures for residential, commercial, and technical applications. The panel consists of a heavy, flexible mass layer combined with a decoupling foam layer and a sound-absorbing surface, creating a double-wall system that effectively limits sound transmission and dampens panel resonances. It can be applied to walls, ceilings, and floors or integrated into floating floor systems.
Merfodem can also be combined with other acoustic materials, such as Akoestifoam or Akoestiwol HR, to further enhance sound absorption and insulation, making it suitable for environments with multiple acoustic requirements.
Merfodem provides a weighted sound reduction of up to Rw = 26 dB, effectively reducing airborne sound through building elements. The panel meets FMVSS 302 and UL94-HF1 fire safety standards, making it suitable for machine rooms, technical spaces, and commercial buildings. It is resistant to ageing, moisture, and temperature variations from –40 °C to +100 °C.
Its high mass and flexible structure decouple vibrations and reduce resonances in metal or panel surfaces. The panel can be installed using adhesive or mechanical fasteners and retains its acoustic and mechanical performance over time.
Merfodem is ideal for walls, ceilings, floors, and floating floor systems in apartments, offices, technical spaces, and public buildings. It is suitable for locations where sound insulation, sound absorption, and vibration damping are required. Combined with other acoustic materials, it offers a versatile solution for complex acoustic challenges.

Answers to common questions
Merford can perform acoustic analyses or simulations to predict noise levels and reverberation times based on material selection, room dimensions, and finishes, ensuring the right solution is designed.
Our acoustic materials generally require minimal maintenance. Dusting and cleaning is usually sufficient to maintain long‑term performance.
- Vibration isolation reduces mechanical vibrations from machines or equipment, preventing transmission to the building structure or floor.
- Sound insulation prevents sound from passing from one space to another, e.g., between rooms or to the exterior.
- Sound absorption reduces echo and reverberation within a space by damping sound waves, improving comfort and speech intelligibility.
Merford materials can provide one or more of these effects depending on the product type, such as absorption panels for rooms or isolation around ventilation units.
