Acusticell VSP
Weighted sound absorption coefficient up to αw = 0.60
Highly suitable for industrial and marine environments
Self-adhesive, allowing for quick installation
Reducing noise in technical spaces can be difficult, especially when the panels also need to look neat and durable. Acusticell VSP is a sound-absorbing panel that reduces noise and provides a clean finish. It is made from open-cell polyurethane foam with a perforated vinyl top layer. The small holes in this layer allow sound to pass through and be absorbed, while the surface stays strong and looks tidy.
The panel is suitable for use in vehicle cabins, cranes, boats and technical enclosures. The vinyl layer protects against oil, moisture and dirt, making it suitable for industrial and marine environments. The self-adhesive backing makes it easy to install on flat surfaces such as steel, aluminium or composite panels. Compared to Acusticell MMF, this panel is mainly used where a neat appearance is more important than heat reflection.
Depending on how it is installed, Acusticell VSP provides sound absorption between αw = 0.40 and 0.60. The material has a density of about 25 kg/m³ and can handle temperatures up to around 100 °C. It has been tested according to ASTM D-1692-68 and FMVSS 302 safety standards.
For best results, the panel should be installed on a flat and dry surface. Seams should be fitted closely and sealed if needed, to prevent sound, dirt or moisture from getting through.
Acusticell VSP is suitable for vehicle and crane cabins, boats, yachts and visible wall or ceiling finishes in technical spaces. It combines sound absorption with protection and a neat appearance, making it a practical solution where both performance and aesthetics are important.

Answers to common questions
Merford can perform acoustic analyses or simulations to predict noise levels and reverberation times based on material selection, room dimensions, and finishes, ensuring the right solution is designed.
Our acoustic materials generally require minimal maintenance. Dusting and cleaning is usually sufficient to maintain long‑term performance.
- Vibration isolation reduces mechanical vibrations from machines or equipment, preventing transmission to the building structure or floor.
- Sound insulation prevents sound from passing from one space to another, e.g., between rooms or to the exterior.
- Sound absorption reduces echo and reverberation within a space by damping sound waves, improving comfort and speech intelligibility.
Merford materials can provide one or more of these effects depending on the product type, such as absorption panels for rooms or isolation around ventilation units.
