Merfocom
Weighted sound absorption coefficient up to αw = 0.40
Resistant to impact, moisture, and industrial environments
Self‑adhesive and easy to install in machine rooms, vehicle compartments, and enclosures
Merfocom panels combine a sound-absorbing surface layer with a heavy mass layer and a decoupling foam layer on the underside, creating a double-wall construction. This combination reduces both sound reflections and sound transmission, making the panels ideal for technical spaces, machinery enclosures, and vehicle compartments.
The panels have a strong fibreglass top layer that resists impact, moisture and tough industrial conditions. The heavy mass layer provides better sound insulation than single-layer foams, while the open-cell foam structure absorbs mid- and high-frequency sound effectively.
The material is resistant to temperatures from –40 °C to +100 °C and meets fire safety standards FMVSS 302 and UL94-HF1. This makes it suitable for machine rooms and technical enclosures. Panels are available in standard sizes of 1,190 × 990 mm and 1,000 × 600 mm, with a thickness of about 35 mm. The self-adhesive backing makes installation on walls and ceilings easy.
Merfocom panels are ideal for lining machine rooms, engine compartments, generator enclosures, and marine applications where both sound absorption and sound insulation are required. They can be installed in new constructions or integrated into existing enclosures to reduce noise levels and improve acoustic comfort.

Answers to common questions
Merford can perform acoustic analyses or simulations to predict noise levels and reverberation times based on material selection, room dimensions, and finishes, ensuring the right solution is designed.
Our acoustic materials generally require minimal maintenance. Dusting and cleaning is usually sufficient to maintain long‑term performance.
- Vibration isolation reduces mechanical vibrations from machines or equipment, preventing transmission to the building structure or floor.
- Sound insulation prevents sound from passing from one space to another, e.g., between rooms or to the exterior.
- Sound absorption reduces echo and reverberation within a space by damping sound waves, improving comfort and speech intelligibility.
Merford materials can provide one or more of these effects depending on the product type, such as absorption panels for rooms or isolation around ventilation units.
