Description

Isomat TS is a visco-elastic mass panel designed for effective sound insulation and impact noise reduction in floors, walls, ceilings, and partitions. Its high-density core efficiently blocks airborne sound and dampens vibrations, making it suitable for renovations, interior construction, and transport applications. The material retains its shape and dimensions and is resistant to moisture, oils, fuels, and standard cleaning products. Isomat TS can be used as a standalone layer or as the core in sandwich panels such as Merfoplex TS, combining mass with structural stiffness.

Properties

Isomat TS provides good sound insulation and reduces impact noise. It is tested according to EN 140-3 and ISO 717. The panel is fire-retardant and certified according to DIN 4102 Class B2. This means it meets safety standards for use in buildings and interior spaces.

The panels are available in two versions:

  • TS 10 (3 mm thick, 10 kg/m²)
  • TS 20 (6 mm thick, 20 kg/m²)

The material has a high density of 2,800 kg/m³. This gives it a lot of mass, which helps reduce sound effectively. The visco-elastic core absorbs vibrations and reduces impact noise. The material keeps its acoustic and mechanical performance over time.

Isomat TS is easy to handle, cut to size and install.

Applications

Isomat TS is ideal as the core of sandwich panels (e.g., Merfoplex TS) or as a separate layer in floors, walls, ceilings, and partitions where high sound insulation and impact noise reduction are required. Typical applications include ship interiors, building renovations, vehicle floors, and interior partitions, combining structural performance with acoustic control.

Answers to common questions

Answers to the most common technical and practical questions.
What is an LCA (Life Cycle Assessment)?

A Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) is an environmental analysis of a product throughout its entire life cycle: from raw materials and production to use, maintenance, and end-of-life. An LCA provides insight into the environmental impact, such as CO₂ emissions, energy consumption, and material footprint, and helps ensure the product can be used in sustainable projects or comply with certifications such as BREEAM, LEED, or the National Environmental Database.

Is this product suitable for installations using alternative refrigerants (new F-gas regulations)?

Yes. The revision of the European F-gas Regulation (in effect since 11 March 2024) does not affect the applicability of this product. The existing requirements for fire safety and acoustic performance remain in place and are fully supported by this product.

For building-related technical installations in new construction, an LCA certification is mandatory. This product has an LCA declaration that is included in the National Environmental Database.

Can the acoustic performance be predicted for a specific space?

Merford can perform acoustic analyses or simulations to predict noise levels and reverberation times based on material selection, room dimensions, and finishes, ensuring the right solution is designed.

How maintenance-friendly are these materials?

Our acoustic materials generally require minimal maintenance. Dusting and cleaning is usually sufficient to maintain long‑term performance.

What is the difference between vibration isolation, sound insulation, and sound absorption?
  • Vibration isolation reduces mechanical vibrations from machines or equipment, preventing transmission to the building structure or floor.
  • Sound insulation prevents sound from passing from one space to another, e.g., between rooms or to the exterior.
  • Sound absorption reduces echo and reverberation within a space by damping sound waves, improving comfort and speech intelligibility.

Merford materials can provide one or more of these effects depending on the product type, such as absorption panels for rooms or isolation around ventilation units.
