Description

Flamex Pyramid is a three-dimensional melamine foam panel that improves sound absorption and sound diffusion in acoustically demanding environments. Its pyramid-shaped profile disperses reflections more effectively than flat foam, creating a smoother and more natural acoustic environment. The material is lightweight, resistant to moisture and ageing, and maintains its performance across a temperature range of –43 °C to +150 °C. Panels are available in the standard size of 1,200 × 600 mm and in multiple thicknesses.

Properties

Thanks to its pyramid profile, Flamex Pyramid achieves a sound absorption coefficient of up to αw = 0.80, particularly when applied over larger surface areas or in combination with panels of different thicknesses. The melamine foam also provides thermal insulation with a thermal conductivity of λ ≈ 0.033–0.037 W/(m·K). Fire safety is certified according to EN 13501‑1 Class C, with smoke production s₂ and droplet formation d₀. The panel is easy to cut to size and install, making it a versatile solution for both functional and architectural applications.

Applications

Flamex Pyramid is suitable for recording studios, rehearsal rooms, offices, lecture halls, industrial spaces and other environments where acoustic performance and visual design come together. Panels are mounted on walls or ceilings using suitable adhesives after a 24-hour acclimatisation period, offering designers flexibility in creating an optimal acoustic environment.

Answers to common questions

Answers to the most common technical and practical questions.
Can the acoustic performance be predicted for a specific space?

Merford can perform acoustic analyses or simulations to predict noise levels and reverberation times based on material selection, room dimensions, and finishes, ensuring the right solution is designed.

How maintenance-friendly are these materials?

Our acoustic materials generally require minimal maintenance. Dusting and cleaning is usually sufficient to maintain long‑term performance.

What is the difference between vibration isolation, sound insulation, and sound absorption?
  • Vibration isolation reduces mechanical vibrations from machines or equipment, preventing transmission to the building structure or floor.
  • Sound insulation prevents sound from passing from one space to another, e.g., between rooms or to the exterior.
  • Sound absorption reduces echo and reverberation within a space by damping sound waves, improving comfort and speech intelligibility.

Merford materials can provide one or more of these effects depending on the product type, such as absorption panels for rooms or isolation around ventilation units.
