Soundglass
Weighted sound absorption coefficient up to αw = 1.00
Made from 90% recycled glass granulate
Suitable for indoor and outdoor use
Sound reflections and reverberation can reduce comfort in any space. Soundglass is a robust acoustic panel made from sintered recycled glass granulate (approximately 90%), effectively absorbing sound without fibres or chemical additives. The non-flammable material performs both indoors and outdoors and can be easily mounted on walls or ceilings.
The 50 mm panel achieves a weighted sound absorption coefficient of αw = 1.00, tested according to EN ISO 11654, ensuring excellent high-frequency performance. The material remains stable at temperatures from –25 °C to +300 °C and complies with fire safety standard DIN EN 13501-1. Panel dimensions are 625 × 625 mm with a thickness of 50 mm and a density of approximately 270 kg/m³, providing durability and strength.
Soundglass is ideal for transformer rooms, swimming pools, offices, sports halls, and other environments where high sound absorption, safety, and durability are required. It reduces reverberation, improves speech clarity, and combines functional performance with low-maintenance installation.

Answers to common questions
Merford can perform acoustic analyses or simulations to predict noise levels and reverberation times based on material selection, room dimensions, and finishes, ensuring the right solution is designed.
Our acoustic materials generally require minimal maintenance. Dusting and cleaning is usually sufficient to maintain long‑term performance.
- Vibration isolation reduces mechanical vibrations from machines or equipment, preventing transmission to the building structure or floor.
- Sound insulation prevents sound from passing from one space to another, e.g., between rooms or to the exterior.
- Sound absorption reduces echo and reverberation within a space by damping sound waves, improving comfort and speech intelligibility.
Merford materials can provide one or more of these effects depending on the product type, such as absorption panels for rooms or isolation around ventilation units.
