Description

Excessive machine noise requires a well-engineered enclosure. Our MSK panels form a modular system for sound-insulating and fire-resistant enclosures, suitable for indoor and outdoor applications. It reduces machine noise to acceptable levels and can be extended with thermal insulation, fire protection, and gas-tight solutions for ATEX environments.

Complete enclosures are assembled on site by our engineers, including the integration of doors, ventilation, and customised features. The combination of a high-performance acoustic core and durable steel sheets ensures efficient installation and long-term reliability.

Properties

MSK panels are available in thicknesses from 80 to 200 mm, with customised dimensions up to 1,000 × 8,000 mm. Panel weight is approximately 21 kg/m², depending on configuration and acoustic infill. Standard panels achieve a sound insulation rating of Rw = 33 dB and a weighted sound absorption of up to αw = 0.90, tested in accordance with ISO 10140 and ISO 354. The panels are manufactured from galvanised and pre-painted steel, with stainless steel available as an option. Fire reaction is classified in accordance with EN 13501-1. High thermal insulation and pre-treated surfaces support fast installation and durable performance.

Applications

MSK panels are used in industrial environments including compressors, transformers, pumps, combustion engines, CHP units and bio-installations. The modular system allows the integration of removable roofs or walls, doors, windows, ventilation and fire dampers, lighting, and crane rails. Suitable for both new-build and refurbishment projects where statutory noise limits must be met without compromising accessibility, ventilation, or operational safety.

Answers to common questions

Answers to the most common technical and practical questions.
What is the lifespan of the panels?

The lifespan depends on the application and environment, but Merford panels are designed for decades of use in industrial and HVAC settings. Materials such as galvanized or stainless steel and moisture-resistant acoustic fillings ensure consistent performance, even under fluctuating temperatures and humidity.

Are the panels suitable for temporary or relocatable structures?

Yes. The modular panels can be quickly assembled, disassembled, and relocated, making them suitable for temporary enclosures, test setups, or reconfigurable industrial spaces. This provides flexibility for renovation projects or changing production environments.

Which frequencies are the panels most effective for?

Merford's modular systems are optimized depending on type: the NoiseTrap® Panel and Blox are specifically designed for enhanced low-frequency attenuation, while SKW provides improved low-to-mid frequency performance due to a higher mass. Our SKS, MSK and G14EP systems primarily provide effective attenuation in the mid-to-high frequency range, with performance gradually decreasing toward lower frequencies.

Can different panels be combined in a single system?

Yes, the modular design makes it possible, for example, to integrate NoiseTrap® Panels with SKS or MSK walls. This allows airflow management and structural sound insulation to be combined in a single installation, provided that installation sequence and air passage are properly considered.
