            Project Management
            Our preference is to participate in your design philosophy as a means of jointly developing the best possible product. Our project manager keeps a careful eye on the entire process. This process starts off with noise calculations, ventilation calculations, a 3D design and engineering. In this respect we provide due consideration to safety, ease of service and maintenance and earthquake-resistance. We then manufacture the necessary panels, low-frequency absorbers, doors, hatches, structures and ventilation components at our site in Gorinchem in the Netherlands. We also look after the on-site assembly, FAT, supervision and installation. Furthermore, all of our solutions can be quickly assembled and disassembled, expanded and/or relocated.

              In the heart of London, the transformers of a power distribution station could be heard by local residents. Merford installed an acoustic screen with the NoiseTrap® technology developed by Sonobex. A revolutionary metamaterial technology where sound is passively cancelled in the panel and natural ventilation is also possible. Network operator UK Power Networks was the first to successfully use this technology for the substation in the Bayswater district, London.

              On behalf of Royal Smit Transformers, Merford Noise Control has developed a set of sound-insulating enclosures for the large power transformers and shunt reactors of an offshore wind farm. The enclosures have been equipped with sound-insulated ventilation systems. This combination limits the emission of noise to a sound power level of 70 dB(A).

              Having a transformer station next door can be noisy. A residential area was built near an existing transformer station in Amersfoort. This created a need to reduce the noise generated by the transformer station. Merford, under contract to Joulz, installed a sound-insulating wall consisting of a steel structure and sound-insulating panels for the station. Sound-insulating panels were installed on the inside.

              A transformer station owned by Westland Infra Netbeheer in the Dutch town of Poeldijk has recently been fitted with an Active Noise Reduction (ANR) system. This makes use of a technology which is also known as anti-noise. There were plans to build new houses close to the transformer station so the transformer station had to meet certain noise requirements. Merford was asked to find a way to reduce the noise pollution levels to a maximum of 40 dB, at a distance of 21 metres on the side of the station where the houses were to be built. An ANR solution was developed to be installed in the transformer station so the sound emissions were reduced to the required levels.

              A substation in Bergen op Zoom is designed to absorb peaks in the electricity network through choking coils. Merford supplied two sound-insulating external housings that absorb the frequency peaks and heat related to this process. Both housings have two sound-insulating doors.
