Unique housing for Van Rompaey market gardener
Merford has installed a special housing in the city of Rijkevorsel in Belgium. The sound insulation for the housing of the combined heat and power plant used by this market gardening operation has to meet strict requirements. Two sandwich panel layers were needed to achieve the required sound insulation rating. Both layers are completely independent, which prevents vibrations transferring from one layer to the other.
Merford supplied the enclosure for a combined heat and power plant that has to meet strict sound criteria. The plant is used by a market gardener in the city of Rijkevorsel in Belgium. Merford met the requirement, 30 dB(A) at 36 metres (or 52 dB(A) at 1 metre), by developing a new type of housing. It consists of two layers.
An SKS enclosure surrounds the combined heat and power plant as an inside layer. This inside layer is completely surrounded by a housing consisting of sandwich panels measuring 13.5 (L) x 6.6 (W) x 6 (H) metres. Both layers are completely independent from each other. The concrete foundation contains a dilatation joint around the combined heat and power plant, with the intent to limit the transfer of vibrations to both enclosures.
The ventilation insulators, required for cooling and supplying combustion air to the combined heat and power plant, are located completely between the inside and outside layers. The silencers consist of large channels constructed using sandwich panels in which Trox coulisses have been placed. To prevent the transfer of vibrations, these silencers have also been flexibly installed in relation to the SKS enclosure.
